Course FAQ

  • There are 10 evaluation criteria which the judges are taught to evaluate through their certification process. These criteria apply to everyone across all styles of kata

  • Stances. The first thing that judges look at is your feet in competition because if your feet are off then odds are they will be able to trace the error up to your knees, hips, and see flaws in your upper body as well. Everything is connected and depends heavily on your connection to the earth in order for you to succeed

  • You could just compete, but then you wouldn’t know what to improve. Learning what the judges are looking for allows you as an athlete to find your own weaknesses and train them into oblivion and also to understand what you do well and highlight that for the judges
